CAPTAIN'S LOG #12: AUGUST 1, 2024

QUICK UPDATES

YO HO HO!! All right ye scallywags, you've done enough trailing after that dawn, time to get back to it! Or not, we're not your boss—

Next month is our first year anniversary!!!!! And technically August is a "pre-anniversary" since our first TDM went live in August last year. We'll say it again next month, but thank you to everyone who has joined our little pirates (and paladins) game!

We have updated the Calendar for important dates, but here is a quick heads up on what to expect this month:

» 08/03: EMP/ATP
» 08/17: Event/TDM
» 08/25: Reserves
» 08/29-31: Activity Check
» 09/01-03: Applications Period

The Manta Board has been posted with new and updated quests! Normally the quests would carry over from the previous month, but the, uh, Board had some strange activity last month and have been fixed. Here are a few notable quests we'd like to highlight:

  • Several new player submitted quests can be found in the General section
  • Special Quest update: research behind the mysterious temple ruins and the Ancient leviathans continue and there are some new objectives for this line!

Our Rewards page has been updated with a few new things for the month!

Finally, this month is TDM month and applications open in September. However we're still brushing near the player cap, so once again it is player invites only! Direct mod invites will remain closed, however even if you do not know anyone in the game, everyone is welcome to participate in our upcoming ATP/EMP and the test drive as a player or mod could still decide to send an invite. Current players must still comment to the Player Invite page to have invites approved!!

UPDATED: CREWS & SHIPS

We have completely revamped, updated, and made a new Crews & Ships page. Because the original page was basically a test run, we were able to work out some wrinkles and wanted to make things better organized for future crews. With new crew code displays, designated toplevels, clearer instructions, and updated forms, hopefully this will be the only update we'll ever have to do!

However, because we made a new entry for this, we need all current crews to create new toplevels on the entry. We will still rely on these toplevels to keep all crew updated and organized. Please follow the instructions and use the form in this comment as it is slightly different from the default one on the entry itself. Please only include the original discovering crew for this toplevel! Any other updates about the crew you can include, but for consistency, please only write in the original crew members and do not include any new members that have joined since the original toplevel. You can refer to the old page as a base, which is linked in the instructions.

Finally, we have lifted our original 5 crews per Armada limit.

If you have any questions, please use our designated toplevel here.

EXTRA NOTES

Here is a recap of a few things that occurred last month.

» All of the remaining Warrior Cats have been adopted!

» The moogles are eternally grateful to all who helped them last month! As a thank you, each person who did will receive a gift basket "tucked" under their pillow (more like not-so-inconspicuously shoved under with the pillow resting on top) containing the following: a small stuffed cat haphazardly stitched together with varying mismatched fabrics (huh, why does this pattern look familiar? It looks a lot like a square from some bedsheets...), fresh hand-picked flowers, an assortment of jams and syrups, a 6-pack of cupcakes, a bag of milk (???) and a letter in messy, barely legible handwriting:

"thank u from the bottom of our ❤️s kupo here u go please enjoy and if the scary green birds ask how u got this dont tell them anything kupo".

Tucked beneath the letter is a golden envelope with a diamond embossed on the front. It's a voucher for a prize at the Diamond Dust Casino? Best not to ask where they got any of it.

» Congratulations to everyone who made it to the final level of the Abyss!

» The phantoms that Rem had called forth have been dealt with and have disappeared from this world.

» Turo has been working on plush keychains of the leafy dragonlings from the Abyss crater. They clip on by "biting" onto whatever they are attached to. They come in an assortment of leafy colours and designs!

» Emet-Selch has been hard at work on developing an engine, with several others volunteering their expertise and time to help. Work in the Forge continues apace! This month sees some curious new gadgets being marketed to the public from the workshop: small space heaters with replaceable fire crystal batteries, portable devices like hand fans and torches that can be charged with a bit of magic - little conveniences to further benefit the people of Escordvi. All sales will help fund further research and pay those working on the prototype engine.

» Emet-Selch has also found a brass egg while exploring the Abyss. What could be inside? 👀

» There are rumours of a terrifying figure that looks like Death himself flitting about alleyways, and even scarier whispers of people vanishing when he is sighted. oOoOOooO spooky~

Phew! It was a bit of a scary month in that crater, so we hope that everyone is ready to have some FUN...

DIAMOND DUST CASINO

Thought you heard the last of those moogles that invaded the MANTA Board last time did you? Well it looks like they've decided to overrun a luxury floating casino and the owners are desperate for help. So desperate they are even waiving entry fees to anyone who is there to help capture these fluffballs! (Other fees and costs still apply.)

» Pop-Peacock. The Diamond Dust is run by a branch of birdfolk of the peacock variety. With their beautiful feathers, they dazzle any who meet them…even if their arrogance is higher than the skies. But all this stress has started to make them molt and their feathers changing colors and that won't do at all. Not only will these peacocks be more insufferable than usual, they will need help rebeautifying not only themselves but the casino.

» Astares: Sea Star Leviathan. A giant sea star (starfish) that usually floats around "richer" waters, it is now making its way towards Eltrut with Naughtilust in tow. It is decadent, with jewels and diamonds encrusting its many limbs and the casino built atop the center of its back. The jewels are often harvested to use within the casino and there are even a few official games involving them. Unfortunately, it does make it a prime target for those wishing to try and take a few of those gems, so there are constant patrols both on the water and on the leviathan itself to try and protect them. However, due to the moogles interference as well as it now closer to Nogard, certain corsair groups are also attempting to steal a few. Requests for Paladin assistance is called for, though desperation will also allow some Corsair mercenaries even if they are loathe to accept help—especially when they are part of the problem!!!

» Catch the Moogles. Remember the weird MANTA Board takeover from the last month? Turns out these Moogles are riftfarers rather than natives to the world and there are a lot of them. They've all decided they want to live on their own place, but they are doing a terrible job of doing it. Right now they have "settled" on Astares, but mostly due to the good food and shinies around. While some may just want to have fun in the casino and are better behaved than others, there are a bunch of moogles on the loose that need to be caught. Just be careful because these moogles are tricky little fellows and love to play pranks.

» "Moogle Island." Since the moogles are trying to find a home, the peacockfolk are desperate enough to find a place for the moogles. And they have! However, it's still infested with monsters and the moogles are so particular that they also want some buildings for homes established before they move in to do the rest. Because the peacockfolk want this done ASAP they are hosting this as a competition between the two Armadas. Whichever side is able to not only do the work but also establish favor with the moogles will be greatly rewarded. They're rather vague as to the how, but they promise riches and special affiliation discounts and rewards. Of course, the losing Armada will still have a reward as well for compensation, especially fair pay, just no extra bonuses. The moogles may also grant a reward afterwards, so getting on their good side here after likely upsetting them on Astares may be a good idea! We'll use AC to ask for participation to count up points!

» Wild West Theme. The casino is having something of a "Wild West Cowboy" theme going on, and while not mandatory and isn't affecting the casino in its entirety, there are many activities, games, and food to match. Patrons and guests can also dress up to fit the part, and may need to for certain things.

» Games and activities. There will be a number of different games and activities that guests can participate in, from card tables to lotteries to slot machines and then more unique games, some with unusual twists.

As mentioned, the Naughtilust is also around so there will be additional "services" available to those who may want some different kinds of "play."
