CAPTAIN'S LOG #03: NOVEMBER 1, 2023

QUICK UPDATES

YO HO HO!! It's our third month and second round of apps!! We hope everyone had fun with the Halloween event! This month there won't be a big event, but we will have an open log after apps are processed.

We have updated the Calendar for important dates, but here is a quick heads up on what to expect this month:

» 11/01: Apps open
» 11/03: Apps close
» 11/04~05: Apps processed; Open Log; CR Meme
» 11/28-30: Activity Check

The Manta Board has been posted with new and updated quests! We have a few fun quests where the armadas can clash, especially with a new island expedition with a few relics and artifacts.

Our Rewards page has been updated with a few new things for the month! Some limited seasonal items for November as well as a revamp of one of the categories to include residence and business rewards! Read the specific section for more details. Since we realize we didn't advertise it well, we will remove all of October's Limited Time rewards after a week, but they may appear again in the future in some shape or form.

December will be check-in only!! This is to help accommodate seasonal holiday chaos and give us a bit of a break, too. Those who manage usual AC will earn a free AC pass for 2024. Details on how that will work will be discussed next month.

AC RESULTS

Here are the results for our latest AC round!

Our player cap is currently at 30/65, which means we have 35 slots open. For this app round we temporarily upped our cap to 65 so we'll see where we are at the start of December to determine whether we up the cap to 65 again or not.

CREWS & SHIPS

As we said before, players can now start working on organizing and plotting out making their own crews and getting their ships! OOCly we'll have a designated recruiting section on the CR Workship where players can either 1) recruit characters for crews or 2) make an ad looking to join.

For those looking to acquire a ship for their crews ICly, this can be done at your own pace. Stealing ships is an option, but you'll need mod approval so we can work out logistics regardless if successful or if planned for failure. For those who want to do it "properly" via a quest to get materials and have the leviathan make it, this can be handwaved, but we can also create a quest tailored to the group. Other methods are also available and we allow players to be creative! Such as finding one, rebuilding from a wreckage, purchasing from an NPC, some kind of trade—whatever you can think of. These will still need mod approval and some kind of effort (no, a ship can't just fall into their hands!!), and we do want to keep track of who is doing what, so we'll need everyone to sign up regardless of success or failure.

For either option, sign up here.

HOUSING AND BUSINESSES

As characters become more established in the world, we've decided to include some new rewards to help players who may want to work towards bigger goals for their characters!

We have recategorized the "Ships & Island Upgrades" section to "Ships & Residence Upgrades". Now players can use their reward points to earn towards housing or business permits.

Island upgrades will still be in this category as they still count as "residence."

OPEN LOG

Just like last time, we'll have an open log that will feature some "current happenings" as a result of last month's Ghoul's Moon events. There will be three sections set on each of the three major leviathans. We won't go into too much detail here, but here's a super brief overview of what to expect:

» Eltrut: Eltrut's pumpkin shell needs to come off, so it's harvest time! Eltrut and the Naughtilust are also still recovering from the ghost ship's attack, so there will be efforts made to create remedies for them.

» Elah: Turkeys.

Also the research institutions are vigorously studying the tombstone relic that was recovered from the ghost ship, hoping to find what, how, and why the ghost ship managed to appear.

» Nogard: A monster hunting competition is underway, with big game on the list. The prize itself is not only fame, but the materials and meat salvaged from the beasts will be worth quite a pretty dubloon.

There will be a link out to the MANTA board instead of including it in the log.

LAST WORDS

And that's it! If you have any questions, feel free to comment here. All quest-related questions should be posted to the Manta Board post.

Hello! These questions have to do with the tombstone prompt on the open log since Rem would be volunteering to investigate its effects.

1. It’s noted tombstone has draining effects on others. Can attacks/magic that drain energy be used against the tombstone? For Rem in particular, she has an attack that can 1) drain power from enemies to siphon it for herself and 2) if it drains enough power to kill the creature, it siphons their soul to her, where she immediately consumes it for magic (ie it isn’t stored). Not saying the tombstone had a soul but just wanted to include that part.

2. On that note, does the tombstone contain any souls of the undead within it? Does it function like a seal? If it contains souls of deceased people, can Rem take some? And if so, what are the consequences, if any?

3. What’s it made of? Like is it made of a special type of rock or is kinda just like a rock that’s been enchanted/cursed to have its magical properties?

re: 3) Is there any text within the archives detailing more about the stone's history, besides it being housed on a ship for some time? Such as from where it originated, or if there are other objects like it that can house a soul or power?

EDIT coz I'm planning on making a post to share info and want to cover other bases

-Can the mysterious script on the tombstone pieces be matched to any other script found in the archives? Not like, necessarily what it says (though that'd be a plus), but that it can be identified to a certain region/island/peoples/etc?

-is the style of the ship the ghosties arrived on similar to ones found on a particular island or leviathan? If so, is there an older navyman, merchant, or privateer that rem can get the name of the ship from? she hopes to check for logs of its docking or chartering before it vanished and never returned. or will her investigation lead nowhere?

Hello yes hi it’s me again asking about this same subject coz the q’s came up in the post

1. If someone were to put a drop of their blood on one of the pieces of the stones, would it react in any way? Does it depend on if the blood belongs to someone who was alive, dead, or was once dead/undead? Or are the broken pieces kinna just inert without whatever original blood was on it

2. Did the ghost ship have any name on it or unique identifier about it (like a recognizable symbol on its sails, or a specific figurehead on its prow)? That characters would be able to link to a design for a company, port, or crew? Sorry for the q’s the muses are just looking for any leads

Hi mods! I have some general questions regarding Sombra and the shellphones

1. Would getting a tattoo to restore all of Sombra's abilities work (or give the magical equivalent of them)? I'm mostly asking to figure out something to replace hack and virus, which pretty explicitly require tech to work I think.

2. Related to the above: would an anti-magic or magic dampening tattoo be possible?

3. Can the shellphones be directly tampered with; like specifically dismantled or edited?
